• The most formal review technique, inspected by experts other than the author.
• Based on documented procedures.
• Verifies whether software specifications are met.
• Requires more than double the personnel until coding begins, but due to subsequent reduction in personnel, it ultimately reduces quality costs and shortens development time.
• Management is excluded from inspection members.
